‘Rocky Horror Picture Show' Heading to the Sphere Las Vegas in 2027
Let's Do the Time Warp Again!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is headed back to the big screen, but in one very specific and very iconic location. Variety reports that the popular movie will be heading to the Sphere in Las Vegas sometime in 2027.
This comes after the venue's massive success with The Wizard of Oz, which recently crossed a box office milestone, having generated over $400 million, with more than 3 million tickets sold since opening on Aug. 28, 2025, the outlet added.
"Through Sphere Studios, we are building a slate of original experiences that push the boundaries of technology and storytelling for this new medium, while always keeping the audience at the center of the experience," Jim Dolan, Sphere Entertainment's executive chairman and CEO, said. "Since ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show' premiered in 1975, it redefined audience participation and became a cultural phenomenon. With Sphere, we have the opportunity to take that spirit of immersion to an entirely new level."
Rocky Horror Picture Show was first released in 1975, following a newly engaged couple (Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon) who seek help from a gender-bending scientist named Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry) when their car breaks down. The film includes themes of self-discovery, delivering the messages through catchy songs that still remain popular to this day.
A Broadway adaptation of the film also recently premiered, with Tony Award-winning director Sam Pinkleton, who was behind Oh, Mary!, leading the project. Rachel Dratch, who is known for many different roles, including on Saturday Night Live, serves as the narrator, while Luke Evans, who starred in Dracula Untold and Beauty and the Beast, plays Frank-N-Furter. At this year's Tony Awards, Evans was nominated for Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, while the show also received nominations for Best Revival of a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, and more
