Harry Styles Delivers Career-High Performance at The UK's Meltdown Festival
Harry Styles delivered a unique orchestral performance at Southbank’s Meltdown festival.
On June 16, the “As it Was” singer-songwriter, 32, took a break from his record-breaking 12-show “Together, Together” residency at Wembley Stadium to team up with composer Jules Buckley and House Gospel Choir to perform songs from his solo projects to a sold-out audience at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Center in the U.K.
Styles reimagined many of his tracks from his latest album, “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally,” and his previous projects with the orchestra, and also surprised fans with a performance of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

According to “Variety,” Styles spoke to the audience about his love of classical and orchestral music and said, “It's quite an intimidating field to step into as someone who doesn't - cannot - read music."
“I met Jules and we worked together and I've never felt so welcomed into the space,” he continued. “He never made me feel like I didn't belong there in any way, and it's been beautiful collaborating with him."
The intimate performance is also part of Southbank’s week long Meltdown festival, which started on June 11. The festival included a mix of free and paid events and performances across indie, jazz, electronic and pop artists curated and selected by Styles himself.
In a statement to “Billboard,” Styles opened up about the opportunity and said, “Music is my life; every artist involved in this year's Meltdown festival means so much to me, both as a fan and a musician.” He added that “It's a true honor to host legends who have paved the way for the generations that follow them, as well as new acts that have inspired me to push my creative boundaries."
Harry Styles’ Meltdown festival runs all the way through June 21 at the Southbank Center. Styles “Together, Together” Tour will run through the end of the year, including a 30-night run at Madison Square Garden in New York this fall. His 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium in London runs through July 4.
