This fun night supporting the animals at Duke Lemur Center offers educational activities, food trucks, a visit from Maky the DLC mascot and of course, hang time with some lemurs.

Family Day at Rex Open

8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; TPC Wakefield Plantation, 2201 Wakefield Plantation Dr., Raleigh; $10 (16 & under free);

Events surrounding this annual charity golf tournament continue through the weekend, with Saturday being Family Day. Expect food trucks, live music and kids’ activities like face-painting, rock climbing and free ice cream cones.

Mondo Roots Fest

Noon-9 p.m. Saturday; 110 W. Main St., Clayton; free;

The annual block party in Clayton brings together many cultures, races and walks of life through art, music and food. Performers include Nappy Roots, DJ Jedi and more.

Pick a Beaver Queen

4 p.m. Saturday; Duke Park Meadow, 106 W. Knox St., Durham; free;

At this 13th annual pageant, contestants take on beaver personalities and show their talent, personality and sense of fashion as they strive for the coveted Beaver Queen title. It’s all for charity.

Family Renaissance Fair

Noon-4 p.m. Sunday; N.C. Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh; free;

An afternoon of music, games, traditional craft demonstrations, art-making and general merriment for the whole family – all that with people dressed in costume! 11 food trucks seals the deal.
