Take Five: Check out festivals to celebrate beer and frogs
Southern Ideal Home Show runs 3 days
You’ll see the usual highlights in building, remodeling and decorating at this three-day home and garden showcase, but also special events featuring local restaurants, breweries, wineries and more.

Last Band Standing
Local bands (Dark Water Rising, Diali Cissokho & Kaira Ba, Fat Cheek Kat, Nomadic) square off in a Band Together competition that benefits StepUp Ministry.

Frog Fest 16
This 16th annual festival of the frog promises “froggy family fun” and a chance to learn more than you ever wanted to know about the high-hopping amphibians. There are crafts, games, live music and food trucks (no frog legs, please). Plus, a meet-and-greet with live frogs and reptiles.
11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday; Crowder District Park, 4709 Ten Ten Road, Apex; free; wakegov.com/parks/crowder
World Beer Festival
One ticket gets you into four mini-festivals that will showcase local breweries, Belgian beer and much more. Plus, two separate sessions this year should keep crowd sizes smaller.
Noon-4 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. Saturday; Moore Square Park, Raleigh; $50 ($100 VIP); allaboutbeer.com
Rock N Roll Marathon
Sure, there’s a race. But there’s also a ton of great live music by local acts to enjoy all along the race course starting at 7 a.m. Then Smash Mouth headlines the Finish Line Festival at Red Hat Amphitheatre.
7 a.m. Sunday; downtown Raleigh; free; runrocknroll.competitor.com/raleigh
