Awkward Magic
Why go: Gregory Dolbashian, Jordan Isadore and Deborah Lohse have danced individually with many modern companies and have choreographed pieces for nontraditional dance spaces.
What’s on: For this ADF debut, the trio brings an evening of dance theater to a Durham nightclub, filled with adult storytelling, song and movement, employing pop culture references and racy situations.

Dynamic Duos
Why go: ADF has commissioned world premieres from eight notable, emerging choreographers, grouped into four sets of duets that the choreographers dance themselves.
What’s on: The four duets include pairings of Larry Keigwin and Rosie Herrera, Mark Haim and Jesse Zaritt, Chris Yon and Taryn Griggs, Claire Porter and Sara Juli.

Paul Taylor Dance Company
Why go: Having passed the 60-year mark, this is one of the great modern dance companies and one of the most popular. Whether sensual, comic, turbulent or utterly beautiful, Taylor’s works are now classics.
What’s on: The exuberant jumping and sliding in 1975’s “Esplanade,” the post-apocalypse twitching and bouncing in 1985’s “Last Look,” the virtuosic leaps and spins in 1987’s “Syzygy.”
