Food and wine

The Raleigh Food and Wine Festival takes place at various restaurants, wine shops, patisseries and bakeries around town, and will feature special wine dinners and guest chefs. RSVP with each venue directly.

Peaceful easy feeling

The N.C. Symphony will perform some of The Eagles’ greatest hits as part of the Rex Healthcare Summerfest Series. Joining conductor Brent Havens will be vocalists John Hines, Terry Brock and Glenn DeLaune, who also plays 12-string guitar. Get there early and take a picnic.

Screendance Festival

It’s the first weekend of International Screendance Festival screenings, a four-weekend festival curated by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Douglas Rosenberg. Presented as part of the American Dance Festival, the selected films explore the relationship between cinema and dance.

Fantastic tunes

The Sweet Carolina Concert Series continues (every Thursday through July) with great beach music from the Fantastic Shakers (upcoming bands include Jim Quick & Coastline, Band of Oz, Embers, Ken Knox & Company). Shag on the padded dance floor or just sit back and enjoy the music while the kids hang out in the play area.
