The Buzz: This is the musical version of the extremely popular 1987 movie that starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, much of which was filmed in Lake Lure. The musical sticks closely to the film, recreating all the scenes fans love and has all the favorite songs, including “Time of My Life,” “Hungry Eyes” and “Do You Love Me?”

Watch For: The high-energy chemistry between Johnny (Christopher Tierney) and Baby (Gillian Abbott) as they rehearse and perform; the creative use of video projections that add realistic backdrops.

About the tour: The musical began in 2004 with a sold-out run in Australia. It went on to play in other countries, from Germany to South Africa, and had a five-year run in London. This is the second year of the U.S. tour, with new leads since the tour’s previous Triangle stop last year. It’s presented as part of the Broadway Series South season.
