Carole King’s many hits to be on parade
What’s on: “Beautiful, The Carole King Musical”
The buzz: The 2014 Tony-winning show, still running on Broadway, is another popular “jukebox musical,” following the early life and career of songwriter Carole King from the late 1950s to 1971. It features two dozen hit songs she wrote with husband Gerry Goffin and other collaborators.
Watch for: The nostalgic pull of King’s “It’s Too Late,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Natural Woman” and “I Feel the Earth Move,” plus her hits for other pop singers, “Up on the Roof,” “The Locomotion” and “One Fine Day.”
About the tour: The Durham stop is just the second in the 23-city, yearlong tour. Triangle audiences get to see the show before it heads to Washington’s Kennedy Center.
