Artisan market

The Carolina Artisan Craft Market will have more than 115 contemporary fine craft artists from across the state and country, with jury-selected fine crafts, demonstrations and live music.
Music & Daffodils
11 a.m. Saturday; Burwell School, 319 N. Churton St., Hillsborough; donations for Whalen encouraged; burwellschool.org
Plant daffodil bulbs at the Burwell School and then hang around to hear singer Katharine Whalen (Squirrel Nut Zippers) perform on the front porch (2 p.m.). You can also buy bulbs to take home.
A mini-market

Once each month, the Durham Patchwork Mini-Market brings together local makers and vendors of vintage goods, who sell high-quality, original items.
High fashion
7 p.m. Saturday; Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh; $30-$75; activategood.org/coutureforacause
This year’s Couture for a Cause fashion show raises money for Activate Good, a nonprofit that helps charities across the Triangle. You’ll get hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, a red carpet photo shoot and of course, ready-to-wear and couture runway fashion from local designers.
Chili challenge
Noon-4 p.m. Sunday; Ashworth Village, 111 W. Chatham St., Cary; free; nando.com/2ob
This annual competition has local restaurants and mobile eateries competing for the Best Chili in the Triangle honors. There’s a tasting, live music, craft beer and wine, a raffle and more.
