The outdoor ice skating rink opened for Winterfest last weekend and it’ll stay there through January. It’s open every day this month except Dec. 14; check the website for hours.

Christmas at Bennett Place

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; 4409 Bennett Memorial Road, Durham; free; nchistoricsites.org/bennett

Historians decorate historic Bennett Place for Christmas, showing what the holidays would have been like during Civil War days. There will be candle-dipping, the roasting of the Hog’s Head and a visit from Santa Claus.

Oakwood by Candlelight

1-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; 411 N. Bloodworth St., Raleigh; $25-$30; historicoakwood.org

Admire the beautifully decorated homes of Historic Oakwood at your own pace during this 44th annual candlelight tour. Homes are staffed with docents to explain the history of each home.

Cary Christmas Parade

2 p.m. Saturday; along Chatham Street in downtown Cary; free; caryjaycees.org

The Jaycees-sponsored parade will include bands, mascots, and local groups and businesses.

Raleigh Ringers

4 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. Monday; Meymandi Concert Hall, 2 E. South St., Raleigh; $15-$21; rr.org

In celebration of the community handbell choir’s 25th anniversary, this year’s holiday shows feature Ringers alumni.
