What to Watch on Friday: ‘Bone Collector’ series, Pam Smart interview and B.I.G. love
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (8 p.m., NBC) - This is a new drama series based on the best-selling Jeffrey Deaver books, about a notorious serial killer called the Bone Collector and the former NYPD detective and forensics expert Lincoln Rhyme (Russell Hornsby) who comes out of retirement to catch him. Rhyme, who has been left paralyzed after a previous encounter with the Bone Collector, teams up with a young police officer (Arielle Kebbel) with a gift for profiling.
20/20: Tainted Love, Murder and Pamela Smart (9 p.m., ABC) - ABC has a new interview with Pamela Smart, who is coming up on 30 years in prison for being an accomplice in her husband’s murder in New Hampshire in 1990. Twenty-two years old at the time, Smart was a teacher and accused of conspiring with her 15-year-old boyfriend William “Billy” Flynn and three of his friends to have her husband Greggory Smart killed. She was convicted of witness tampering, conspiracy to commit murder and being an accomplice to first-degree murder. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole and continues to maintain her innocence. Smart’s trial was the first to be broadcast on national television, gavel-to-gavel. In addition to the new interview with Smart, the special will feature an archival interview with Smart and one of the confessed killers, conducted by Diane Sawyer. There are also interviews with Smart’s mother and her attorney, and with the attorney who prosecuted the case.
Dateline: The Music Box (9 p.m., NBC) - Andrea Canning reports on the murder of Lisa Ziegert. Ziegert was abducted during her evening shift working at a gift shop in Agawam, Massachusetts, and local detectives, state police and the FBI worked relentlessly to find her. Hopelessly in Love: Faith Evans and Notorious B.I.G (9 p.m., Lifetime) - This documentary series about doomed romances focuses this week on the marriage between Faith Evans and The Notorious B.I.G.. It’s a story about young love and the pressures of fame. Twenty years after B.I.G.’s murder, Faith confronts her pain and revisits the most intimate moments of their relationship.
AJ and the Queen (Netflix) - RuPaul stars as Ruby Red, a bigger than life but down on her luck drag queen who travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990’s van, in order to recoup the savings recently stolen from her. She’s paired up with AJ, a recently orphaned, tough-talking, scrappy 10-year-old white girl stowaway.
