What to Watch Sunday: ‘Wicked Tuna’ shows why OBX is the Graveyard of the Atlantic

Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks (9 p.m., National Geographic) - Things get a little crazy tonight when a big storm demonstrates why the waters of the Outer Banks are called The Graveyard of the Atlantic. Tonight, Captain Nick Gowitzka of the Little Shell (out of Manteo) thinks he can handle it, and ventures out in the early hours during a storm when the swells are over 20 feet high. This new season has the “Wicked Tuna” franchise’s top fisherman going head-to-head in an intense battle between North and South (boats, that is). Nearly every captain this season has won a previous “Wicked Tuna” season or has been on the crew of a winning boat. New to “Outer Banks” is Captain Dave Carraro, of the FV-Tuna.com, who has won the “Wicked Tuna” Gloucester competition five times in the past. Cararro, considered one of the best captains in the northeast, will have to battle four-time “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks” champ Captain Greg Mayer of the Fishing Frenzy boat, based out of Kill Devil Hills. Mayer returns to the show after a short hiatus. The battle also has Season 6 defending champion Captain Bobby Earl of the Reel E’ Bugging. Also returning is fan favorite Captain T.J. Ott of the Hot Tuna, who heads South after earning the top spot in Gloucester; and two-time Gloucester champion Captain Tyler McLaughlin of the Pin Wheel. Rounding out the fleet is Captain Zack Shackleton, the youngest of the captains, with the small but mighty boat Rasta Rocket.

Her Deadly Groom (8 p.m., Lifetime) - In this new Lifetime movie, a recent divorcee (Kate Watson) is nervous about jumping back into dating, but her best friend sets her up on a dating site and she’s matched with a mysterious man (Michael DeVorzon) who appears too good to be true. And of course, he is.

Helter Skelter: An American Myth (Epix) - A new six-part docuseries about the Manson family with never-before-accessed interviews from former family members and journalists first on the scene and in the courtroom. The filmmakers weave these narratives with archival footage and newly-unearthed images.

SharkFest 2020 (National Geographic Channel) - Don’t forget that SharkFest is going on now through August 20. Click here for a schedule of some of the new premiere highlights.
