Activists in UNC sex assault complaint are guests on ‘Bill Maher’

Annie Clark and Andrea Pino, co-founders of EROC (End Rape on Campus), will be guests on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday night.

Clark and Pino attended UNC-Chapel Hill and, along with other UNC students, were complainants in the 2013 Title IX and Clery Act complaints against the school. Their activism began after they were both sexually assaulted while they were students at UNC, and said the university didn’t take sexual assault complaints seriously – specifically, the students alleged that a hostile university culture violated sexual-assault victims’ rights to an education.

The federal complaint prompted major changes at UNC regarding how the school handles rape and sexual misconduct reports.

Clark and Pino are also prominently featured in a new documentary called “The Hunting Ground,” which tells the stories of women who experienced sexual assault, and which premiered in February at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The film also includes stories from Harvard, Notre Dame, Florida State and a few other campuses.

“Real Time with Bill Maher” airs at 10 p.m. on HBO.
