What to Watch on Friday: Peterson documentary 'The Staircase' lands on Netflix
The Staircase (Netflix) — The French documentary series that tells the story of Michael Peterson’s murder trial in Durham lands on the streaming network for the first time. Netflix now has exclusive rights to the 10 previously released episodes (eight released in 2005 and two more released in 2013), plus three brand new installments available today. The series originally aired in the U.S. on the Sundance TV channel. “The Staircase” chronicles Peterson’s trial for the murder of his wife Kathleen, who was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their Durham home in 2001. In the true-crime world, this release is a biggie. Will the new attention on the case do to Durham what Netflix’s “Making a Murderer” did to Manitowoc, Wisconsin?
My Last Days (8 p.m., The CW) — In the Season 2 finale, Diane Nguyen focuses on positivity and humor after being diagnosed with terminal leukemia.
