What to Watch on Sunday: You can’t miss ‘Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town’

A Christmas Princess (7 p.m., ION) - In this new movie, a prince from a small European country arrives in New York City plan his family’s annual Christmas charity dinner.

Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town (8 p.m., ABC) - This 1970 stop-motion special is maybe the greatest Christmas special ever created. Fred Astaire explains the Santa Claus origin story – which includes his struggle against the bitter Burgermeister Meisterburger, who fights to keep Kris Kringle from delivering toys to the children of Sombertown. This is Santa 101, folks.

Christmas Town (8 p.m., Hallmark) - Candace Cameron Bure stars as Lauren, who leaves behind her life in Boston to embark on a new chapter in her life and career. She makes an unforeseen detour to the small town of Grandon Falls, where she discovers love and family, helping her embrace the magic of Christmas.

You Light Up My Christmas (8 p.m., Lifetime) -In this new Lifetime movie, a woman (Kim Fields) returns to her hometown for Christmas and discovers the lights have gone dim in the once festive town, which prompts her to reconnect with an old flame. In addition to Fields, “Facts of Life” stars Lisa Whelchel, Mindy Cohn and Nancy McKeon make appearances.

Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (8:30 p.m., Fox) - In this animated special, Mannu convinces Sid that he is on the naughty list, so Sid, Crash, Eddie and Peaches head to the North Pole to explain themselves to Santa Claus.

Every Day But Christmas (9 p.m., Bounce) - A best-selling author (Jordan Dawkins) hates everything about Christmas, but after he wraps up his latest book tour, he faces his fears, finds his faith and discovers the true meaning of the holiday.

Holiday Wars (9 p.m., Food) - In this new show, Jonathan Bennett asks five teams to create a jolly depiction of a heist involving kids from Santa’s Naughty List.

Holiday Gingerbread Showdown (10 p.m., Food) - In the Season 2 premiere, Paige Davis unleashes three bakers on a challenge to make gingerbread showpieces with a dog-inspired theme.
