What to Watch on Saturday: Lifetime’s Chris Watts movie and an Oscar-nominated doc
Chris Watts: Confessions of a Killer (8 p.m., Lifetime) - Sean Kleier and Ashley Williams star in this ripped-from-the-headlines movie about the real life murder of Shanann Watts by her husband, Chris, who also murdered the couple’s two daughters. Brooke Smith plays Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent Tammy Lee. “Beyond the Headlines: The Watts Family Tragedy,” featuring an interview with Tammy Lee, airs right after at 10. We have a lot more information about the case and the film, including the details of the controversy involving Shanann’s family, in this story.
The Cave (9 p.m., National Geographic) - National Geographic presents a commercial-free presentation of the Academy Award-nominated feature documentary “The Cave,” about a subterranean hospital in war-torn Syria where female doctors work as equals alongside their male counterparts — an unthinkable prospect in above-ground Syria. The film is not only a stirring portrait of resilience and female solidarity, but also an unflinching look at the Syrian war. (The movie is also streaming on services such as Amazon Prime and iTunes.)
Hearts of Winter (9 p.m., Hallmark) - In this new Hallmark movie, an interior designer brings new life to the house of a widower and his daughter, and finds love in the process.
Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m., NBC) - Adam Driver hosts and Halsey performs.
