What to Watch Sunday: ‘Snapped’ finally gets around to a notorious NC black widow
Snapped: Blanche Taylor Moore (6 and 9 p.m., Oxygen) - This iconic true crime show finally gets around to telling the story of one of North Carolina’s most notorious black widow serial killers, Blanche Taylor Moore. (Notice how I said “one of”? Hello Velma Barfield.) Moore was charged in 1989 with killing her first husband and her boyfriend, and trying to kill her second husband, all by putting arsenic-based ant killer in their food. The Burlington woman was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Raymond Reid and was sentenced to death by lethal injection in 1990. She remains on death row, where she is one of three women.
The Beverly Hills Dog Show (8 p.m., NBC) - Filmed earlier this year, the star-studded broadcast is co-hosted by John O’Hurley and David Frei, along with contributors Maria Menounos, Mary Carillo and Akbar Gbajabiamila. This year’s dog-loving celebrity guests include Lauren Ash, Bo Derek, Doug the Pug and Greg Louganis.
Snowpiercer (9 p.m., TNT) - The new post-apocalyptic series, based on the film, stars Oscar-winner Jennifer Connelly and Grammy-winner Daveed Diggs. The story enters on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train with 1001 cars that circles the globe, seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland.
Scandalous: The Untold Story of the National Enquirer (10 p.m., CNN) - This CNN documentary goes deep into how the Enquirer became the most widely-read tabloid in America. The film examines the tabloid’s ruthless use of “catch and kill” practices to buy and then bury stories to the advantage of powerful partisan political interests. Also, several former staffers acknowledge the shocking tactics behind some of their most notorious scoops, such as spying, opening mail, offering payoffs and more. Directed by Mark Landsman.
Taylor Swift: City of Lover Concert (10 p.m., ABC) - Taylor Swift performs songs from her award-winning album “Lover” to an intimate crowd of fans from 37 countries at the L’Olympia Theater in Paris. This was shot last year.
