Former WTVD meteorologist hospitalized with COVID-19

WPLG Miami chief meteorologist Betty Davis, known to local viewers for her stint at WTVD, has been hospitalized with COVID-19.

Davis announced her hospitalization in a Facebook post on Monday. She is one of nine staffers at WPLG Local 10, the ABC affiliate in Miami, to have tested positive for coronavirus, the station said.

According to a Local 10 news report, Davis had been running a fever and is currently hospitalized, “but she’s being well cared for and doctors say she’s making good progress.”

Davis addressed her recent absence from the news in her Facebook post and added: “I am weathering this storm with a lot of fear, but also with a great deal of faith.”

Davis was a meteorologist at WTVD ABC11 from 2002 to 2005. She left there to work as an on-camera meteorologist at The Weather Channel for five years before moving to WPLG in Miami.
