What to Watch Saturday: Lifetime has a ripped-from-the-headlines Ann Rule movie
Sleeping with Danger (8 p.m., Lifetime) - This “ripped from the headlines” movie is inspired by a short story from true crime writer Ann Rule’s book “Mortal Danger.” The story is based on the real life case of Kathy (“Kate”) Ann Jewell, an Oregon flight attendant who fell in love with a devious, controlling and violent man who went by many names, including John Branden. Jewell not only escaped her tormenter, she helped bring him to justice. In the press release about the movie version, the flight attendant is named Grace Tanner (Elisabeth Rohm) and the boyfriend is Paul Carter (Antonio Cupo). A heads-up that a second new Ann Rule movie airs tomorrow night: “A Murder to Remember.”
Romance in the Air (9 p.m., Hallmark) - Finally, a new Hallmark movie. In this one, a woman gets a chance at happiness when she returns home and reunites with a childhood friend. (And yes, that’s basically all of them, but don’t quibble.)
Seeing America with Megan Rapinoe (10 p.m., HBO) - Women’s soccer’s biggest star leads a conversation about ongoing cultural changes with US House of Representatives member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Nicole Hannah-Jones, and comedian and Peabody Award winner Hasan Minhaj.
SharkFest 2020 (National Geographic Channel) - Don’t forget that SharkFest is going on now through August 20. Click here for a schedule of some of the new premiere highlights.
