What to Watch on Sunday: ESPN’s 10-part documentary on Michael Jordan and the Bulls
Snapped: Notorious Hollywood Ripper (6 p.m., Oxygen) - “Snapped” takes a look at one of the most sensational serial killer cases in recent history in a special 90-minute episode. From 1993 to 2008, Michael Gargiulo stalked, befriended and murdered three young women, and attempted to kill a fourth. His victims were all charismatic, outgoing and on the path to stardom. One victim was murdered on the night she was supposed to have a date with actor Ashton Kutcher. The special features in-depth interviews with lead detectives.
Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children (8 p.m., HBO) - Part three of this 5-part documentary series covers the FBI stakeout of Atlanta’s bridges that needed 23-year-old Wayne Williams, who became the main suspect in the killings, and his subsequent trial.
The Last Dance (ESPN / ESPN2) - Directed by Jason Hehir, this new 10-part documentary series about Michael Jordan and the 1990s Chicago Bulls features never-before-seen footage from unprecedented access to the 1997-98 season, as the team pursued its sixth NBA championship in eight years. It will air on Sunday nights over five weeks, from April 19 through May 17. The version airing on ESPN will contain strong adult language, but an alternate version edited for language will air simultaneously on ESPN2. So pick your poison.
The Longest War (10 p.m., Showtime) - From the directors and executive producers of “Homeland” comes a feature-length documentary which unpacks the CIA’s long and morally complicated history in Afghanistan from the 1980s to the present, through first-hand accounts of CIA offers and other US key officials.
