What to Watch on New Year’s Eve: Shows ring in 2022 from Raleigh, NYC, Miami, Nashville
New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper & Andy Cohen (8 p.m., CNN) - For my money, always the most entertaining countdown show of the night. Cooper and Cohen are live from Times Square in New York until 12:30 (when Don Lemon takes over).
New Year’s Rockin’ Eve (8 p.m., ABC) - The 50th anniversary of this New Year’s celebration is hosted by Ryan Seacrest with Ciara, D-Nice and Roselyn Sanchez. The celebration last more than 5 hours, with a break from 11 to 11:30 p.m. for local news, and performances airing until after 2 a.m. EST.
2021: It’s Toast! (8 p.m., NBC) - Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush host this special looking back at the light-hearted and humorous moments of 2021 -- the viral videos, top trends, bloopers and pranks. Interviews include Michael Bublé, Andrea Canning, Willie Geist, Jonathan Graziano & Noodle, Savannah Guthrie, Ed Helms, Lester Holt, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison, Dennis Murphy, Amber Ruffin and Al Roker. LOCAL PROGRAMMING NOTE: This airs in the Raleigh market until 10 p.m. and then WRAL News will take over and go until just after midnight to cover the Acorn Drop downtown.
New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash (8 p.m., CBS) - This New Year’s Eve special celebrates with country music stars. Bobby Bones and Rachel Smith host. There’s a break at 11 p.m. for local news, then it resumes at 11:30.
All American New Year (10 p.m., Fox News) - Pete Hegseth, Rachel Campos-Duffy and Will Cain co-host a countdown to 2022, featuring entertainment from Times Square in New York City, New Orleans and Nashville, Tenn. Trace Adkins, Eddie Montgomery, Sister Hazel and Lindsay Ell perform.
Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party with Pete Davidson (12:05 a.m., NBC) - In Raleigh, this countdown show will start just after midnight. Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson host live from Miami.
CNN New Year’s Eve Live with Don Lemon (12:30 a.m. CNN) - Don Lemon takes over for Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. Alisyn Camerota co-hosts.
