Finding Your Roots (8 p.m., PBS NC) - Two new episodes open Season 8. In the first, Henry Louis Gates Jr. helps Rebecca Hall and Lee Daniels research their family histories. At 9, David Chang and Raul Esparza.

American Auto (8 p.m., NBC) - This auto manufacturer workplace sitcom, which technically premiered a couple weeks ago, moves into its regular timeslot tonight. It should fill the “Superstore”-sized hole that show’s departure left in your heart.

Grand Crew (8:30 p.m., NBC) - This new “Friends”-style sitcom also settles into its regular timeslot tonight.

Judge Steve Harvey (8 p.m., ABC) - Steve Harvey, who is not a real judge, will rule on who is at fault in disputes between people. In tonight’s premiere, neighbors sue each other for the cost of a fence damaged during a party, and a sister sues her brother for unfinished work she had already paid for.

This Is Us (9 p.m., NBC) - The Big 3 celebrate their 41st birthdays in the Season 6 premiere.

Abbott Elementary (9 p.m, ABC) - We all loved the sneak peek of this sitcom we got a few weeks ago, and now we finally get the second episode. We dig the Jim & Pam vibe we’re getting from Gregory & Janine.

Black-ish (9:30 p.m., ABC) - Finally, the much-hyped Michelle Obama episode opens the eighth and final season.
