What to Watch on Tuesday: A new documentary on skateboarder Tony Hawk
Benjamin Franklin (8 p.m., PBS NC) - Tonight we have the conclusion of Ken Burns’ four-hour documentary on Benjamin Franklin. The documentary explores the revolutionary life of one of the 18th century’s most consequential figures, whose work and words unlocked the mystery of electricity and helped create the United States.
Crime Scene Confidential: Speaking for Stacie (9 p.m., Investigation Discovery/discovery+) - Alina Burroughs revisits a murder that’s haunted a college campus for decades – the 1985 bludgeoning death of 18-year-old freshman Stacie Pannell at Mississippi Junior College in Booneville. A suspect was arrested and confessed to the murder, but later recanted the confession. Burroughs takes a fresh look at the investigation and discovers there may be even more to this story than meets the eye.
Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off (9 p.m., HBO) - This new original documentary, directed by Sam Jones and executive produced by Mark & Jay Duplass, is an all-encompassing look at skateboarder Tony Hawk’s life, legendary career, and relationship with the sport with which he’s been synonymous for decades. Hawk, a pioneer of modern vertical skating who is still pushing his limits at the age of 53, remains one of the most influential skateboarders of all time. The documentary features never-before-seen archival footage and chronicles Hawk’s meteoric rise from awkward teen outsider in the radical sport of the 1980s to multiple X Games gold medalist, trick innovator, entrepreneur, and 12-time National Skateboard Association world champion.
