Influencer and Husband Found Dead After Suspected Murder Suicide: Reports

Indian influencer Nagalakshmi and her husband, Subramani, are dead after a suspected murder-suicide, according to multiple reports. They were 41 and 51, respectively.

On Tuesday, April 28, Nagalakshmi and Subramani's 18-year-old son entered their home in Nanganallur, India, after he received a message from his father requesting his presence.

"Your mother and I will no longer be home. I have kept food for you. Come home and eat," the message reportedly read, according to The Sun.

Their son then discovered both of his parents dead, according to local outlets The Hindu and Times of India. The outlets reported that he found his mother lying face down in a pool of blood with stab wounds, while his father was found dead in another room.

The son contacted the police, who arrived on the scene and ordered an autopsy. According to reports, authorities believe that Subramani murdered his wife and then died by suicide. However, they are investigating a possible third person's involvement because the door to the home was found open when the son arrived.

The Hindu and Times of India reported that Nagalakshmi, who had more than 300,000 followers on Instagram and was known for promoting her online sari business, was the family's sole breadwinner. She and Subramani reportedly often argued over finances.

Subramani moved out two years ago after a fallout with Nagalakshmi, The Sun reported, citing police. He had been staying with his sister. Ten days before their deaths, Subramani and Nagalakshmi allegedly reconciled, and he moved back in. On the day of the suspected murder-suicide, Subramani allegedly left the house during an argument and returned with a sickle.

Nagalakshmi's business, Sree Sai Silks, posted via Instagram on Friday, May 1, that it would be temporarily closed due to "unforeseen circumstances."

"We are pleased to inform you that we will resume operations from tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and continued support," the post read. "Please mention as tribute and commitment to pursue my mother's dream."

In a follow-up post, the business shared a pre-recorded video of Nagalakshmi showing off one of her products.

"My tribute and commitment to pursue my mother's dream," the caption read.

Nagalakshmi appeared to last post a video to the account on Monday, April 27, offering her followers a tutorial on how to drape a sari. Her other posts featured weaving tips and promotions for her two brick-and-mortar stores in Chennai, India.

Nagalakshmi and Subramani also shared a 21-year-old son who is studying medicine in Russia, according to The Sun.
