Kim Kardashian Teases 2026 Met Gala Look: 'Don't Think You Will Guess'
Kim Kardashian is ready to pull out all the stops for her 13th Met Gala appearance.
The Kardashians star, 45, teased her look for the Monday, May 4, fashion event via social media over the weekend as fans speculated just how she will manage to top her previous looks, including that Marilyn Monroe dress.
In a Sunday, May 3, Instagram post, Kardashian shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos of her getting ready for previous Met Galas, captioning the post, "Year 13 loading…"
Over on X, the All's Fair actress engaged with fans wondering about her look.
Responding to one person who asked which designer she'll be rocking, Kardashian responded, "Hmmm I don't think you will be able to guess. 😉"
Another person asked, "Are you doing colorful makeup or nude ? 👀"
Kardashian responded, "More neutral bronze tones."
Kardashian first attended the Met Gala with then-husband Kanye West in 2013. The reality star, who was pregnant with daughter North at the time, stunned in a floor-length floral gown designed by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy.
Then, of course, there was her full-body black ensemble designed by Balenciaga at the 2021 Met Gala, for which she even covered her face.
The following year, Kardashian courted controversy when she wore a piece of pop culture history: the nude-colored Jean Louis gown Marilyn Monroe wore when she infamously performed "Happy Birthday" to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
Kardashian was loaned the dress by Ripley's Believe It or Not!, which acquired it for $4.8 million in 2016.
"Nowadays everyone wears sheer dresses, but back then that was not the case," she told Vogue at the time. "In a sense, it's the original naked dress. That's why it was so shocking."
Kardashian opened up about her strict diet to fit into the dress, telling Vogue, "It was this or nothing. … I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict."
In a June 2021 interview on the Today show, Kardashian said she lost 21 pounds in total.
"It taught me a lot about my lifestyle and my health," she shared. "Since then, afterward, I continued to eat really healthy. I'm down 21 pounds now. I'm not trying to lose any more weight, but I have more energy than ever. I cut out so much sugar, a lot of junk food I was eating … I just completely changed my lifestyle."
Following the Met Gala, Ripley's denied speculation that Kardashian had in some way damaged the iconic dress.
"Kim Kardashian wearing the ‘Happy Birthday' dress has been hotly contested, but the fact remains that she did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala," the company said in a statement in June 2022.
