Dave Portnoy Trashes Justin Herbert for Madison Beer Music Video Cameo
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy called out Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert for appearing in his girlfriend Madison Beer's latest music video.
"Call me crazy but I like my coaches and QB's concentrating on the weight room and studying game tape rather than making steamy music videos," Portnoy, 49, wrote via X on Friday, May 8.
Portnoy, a diehard New England Patriots fan, then compared his team's success to the Chargers' lack of postseason achievements.
"But maybe that's why we have 6 rings and were in the Super Bowl last year and the Chargers can't win a playoff game," he wrote. (Herbert, 28, has yet to win a postseason game in his six seasons in the NFL.)
Herbert appears in Beer's music video for her song "Lovergirl," released on Friday. The video features the couple, who started dating in August 2025, kissing, frollicking near a beach and playing patty-cake, among other activities.
"One look right into your eyes / One touch and I'm yours tonight," Beer, 27, sings on the track. "I just can't help that I'm a lovergirl / Why not embrace a simple pleasure? / Let me hold you close / And we can take off all our clothes."
Herbert made things Instagram official with Beer last month, posting a picture of the couple captioned: "My world!"
Beer commented on the post, "my baby baby 👩❤️💋👨👩❤️👨🤍🤍🩷🩷."
The month before, Beer celebrated Herbert's birthday with a post via her Instagram Story. "Happy birthday baby boy," the pop star wrote on March 10. "I am so lucky to be yours. You are my dream come true."
As for Portnoy, while he might take issue with his quarterback appearing in music videos during the offseason, he hasn't been particularly troubled with his married head coach being involved in an ongoing scandal with a veteran NFL reporter.
"Breaking News: Vrabel and Russini may have had an affair. More at 11," he wrote via X on Wednesday, May 6, after photos emerged of Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and reporter Dianna Russini renting a private boat together.
Vrabel, 50, and Russini, 43, have been embroiled in scandal since last month, when Page Six posted photos of the pair together at a luxury resort in Arizona. Since then, most pictures of the duo have emerged, including images of Vrabel and Russini seemingly kissing at a bar in 2020.
However, Portnoy did call out Vrabel for attending counseling instead of day 3 of the NFL Draft last month.
"He's skipping the Draft?" Portnoy said in a video posted on April 23. "If you're not an NFL person … you could be shot in the leg, your brother could be dead, you don't miss the Draft."
