Marion L. McMorris

Mrs. Marion L. McMorris, 98, died Tuesday at Croasdaile Village Retirement Community.

Mrs. McMorris was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter, of the late Henry Louis and the late Mary Schneider Louis. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a real estate agent. Mrs. McMorris was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Sells McMorris; son, Louis Sells McMorris; sister, Lillian Dudley; and brothers, Russell J. Louis, Harry Louis and Leo Louis.

Mrs. McMorris was devoted to her community, the arts, a curiosity about the world and the betterment of life for the least fortunate. She received a commendation for a lifetime of work with the Benevolent Society For Retarded Children in New York and was a member of the Amateur Astronomers Association there for more than 70 years. She was a committed member of Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Mrs. McMorris was active in numerous political causes and never missed an Election Day. In her later life, she was a supporter of the North Carolina Ballet and PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. McMorris is survived by a daughter, Mary McMorris and husband, Leonard Santoro; and grandchildren, Evan McMorris-Santoro and wife, Jenny Lynn Towns and Stefan McMorris-Santoro and wife, Valerie Justis.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 27 at Few Chapel at Croasdaile Village with the Revs. Laurie Hays Coffman and Milton Hadley officiating. The service begins at 4 p.m.
