Trial & Error: Lady, Killer (9 p.m., NBC) -- This sitcom — the first season of which was a hilarious parody of the Mike Peterson documentary “The Staircase” — returns for Season 2. This season will feature a new murder case and suspect, trading John Lithgow’s Larry Henderson for Kristen Chenoweth’s Lavinia Peck-Foster, the eccentric first lady of East Peck. Mountain Men (9 p.m., History) -- As winter approaches in the Season 7 premiere, Morgan battles a bear-infested island for a critical head start on the season. In the North Carolina mountains, Eustace Conway wrestles with the aftermath of Preston Roberts’ death.

Snowfall (10 p.m., FX) -- Franklin struggles to keep up with the demands of his growing organization in the Season 2 premiere.
