5 events you can do this weekend with your family
Here isjust a sampling of the family-friendly events happening in the Triangle this weekend.
▪ Bilingual children’s musician (and Latin Grammy winner) Mister G plays the Carrboro ArtsCenter at 11 a.m. Nov. 4. He’s celebrating the release of his new album, “Mundo Verde/Green World.” Tickets are $10. Learn more at artscenterlive.org.
▪ Downtown Raleigh children’s bookstore Read With Me partners with the LGBT Center of Raleigh for a drag queen story time Nov. 4. This all-ages drop-in program starts at 11 a.m. Visit readwithme.us/calendar
▪ Artspace in Raleigh throws a free Día de los Muertos celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4. Artists Peter Marin, Cornelio Campos and Pepe Caudillo lead a day of all-ages community art-making to honor the Day of the Dead. Visit artspacenc.org/events/dia-de-los-muertos.
▪ The North Carolina Museum of Art’s “Inspiring Beauty” exhibition, which celebrates the Ebony Fashion Fair’s 50-year history and its impact on African-American fashion and empowerment, opened Oct. 28. On Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. and again on Dec. 9, Family Fun Saturdays: Couture Cloth invites children ages 5-11 to create their own art out of patterned and printed fabric. ▪ Raleigh Dance Theatre presents “Storybook Tales” Nov. 4 and 5. This hour-long program includes “Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet,” “Alice in Wonderland” and a portion of the Tchaikovsky classic “Swan Lake.” Shows are at 3 p.m. both days at Fletcher Opera Theater, and tickets cost $15 in advance or $18 at the door.
