Durham sushi bar near DPAC will close at the end of the week
This is the last week of service for Japanese fusion and sushi bar Basan near Durham's American Tobacco Campus.
The 3-year-old restaurant will close its doors after dinner service Saturday, June 30. Basan is part of one of the Triangle's most prolific restaurant groups, Eschelon Experiences, which also owns Mura in North Hills and cocktail bar The Haymaker in downtown Raleigh.
"It has been an incredible run and we are so happy that we were able to meet so many of you and have you enjoy the food we lovingly prepared over the years," the restaurant posted on Facebook.
Basan was Eschelon's first foray into the Durham market and like many of the company's projects, took over prominent real estate, situated across the street from the sprawling American Tobacco Campus, around the corner from the Durham Bulls' stadium and near the Durham Performing Arts Center. It's known mainly for its sushi, but also serves bowls of noodles and dumplings and rice dishes. The restaurant will keep regular hours up until its closing and owners encouraged fans to stop in for a final meal.
Basan is the company's second restaurant to close in the last year, following the closing last fall of barbecue restaurant Bare Bones on Fayetteville Street in Raleigh.
