Weekday coffee is fuel and medicine, often needed to jump-start a morning routine.
But on the weekends, this morning/afternoon/whenever ritual can be savored and appreciated, a moment of caffeine-tinged serenity.
Thank goodness National Coffee Day falls on a Saturday this year. Whether it’s pour-over or drip, iced or steaming, the Triangle is home to many great coffee shops and a number of world-class roasters.
Here’s a round-up of all the deals and coffee-centric celebrations we know about so far for Sept. 29:
▪ 42 & Lawrence: Offering coffee sodas for $2.
▪ BREW: Both the downtown Raleigh and Cary locations will offer 12-ounce nitro cold brews for $1.
▪ Bruegger’s Bagels: Get a free medium coffee with any purchase.
▪ Caribou Coffee: There are four Caribou Coffee locations in the Triangle, each offering a free coffee with the purchase of a food item.
▪ Cocoa Cinnamon: Bags of Cocoa Cinnamon’s 4th Dimension brand of beans will be 10 percent off at their three Durham coffee shops.
▪ Duck Donuts: There’s a free small coffee for you with any purchase at the three Triangle locations of this popular NC-based doughnut chain.
▪ Dunkin’ Doughnuts: All locations of the shops that will soon be known as just Dunkin’ are offering a free hot coffee with the purchase of a hot coffee.
▪ Krispy Kreme: The North Carolina-based doughnut giant is offering a free coffee of any size on Saturday, plus a free doughnut to Krispy Kreme Rewards Members.
▪ McDonald’s: Using the McDonald’s app, get a medium or large McCafe drink for a penny.
▪ Namu: Offering a free drip coffee at this Durham coffee shop/Korean restaurant, no purchase necessary.
▪ Sheetz: Free cold brew coffee of any size if ordred from the Sheetz app.
