‘Today’ co-host Jenna Bush Hager is coming to NC on book tour. Here’s how to see her.
“Today” show co-host Jenna Bush Hager is coming to North Carolina in May as part of her book tour, just days after her new book about her grandparents’ wisdom is published.
Those grandparents, of course, are the late former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush.
The book, called “Everything Beautiful in its Time,” is described as “moving, funny stories about her beloved grandparents and the wisdom they passed on that has shaped her life,” according to her book publisher.
The book will feature essays about lessons she learned from her late grandparents, which have proven helpful as she raises three children, Today.com reports.
The book is set to be released April 28. Her book tour will take her to North and South Carolina, including stops May 1 in Raleigh and Charlotte; and May 2 in Southern Pines, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Charleston, S.C.
The Raleigh stop is at Quail Ridge Books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A limited number of event tickets are still available. Organizers note that it’s a book signing only. Each event ticket includes a copy of the book and a photo with Bush. The book store said Bush will not have time to personalize the books.
A similar scenario is scheduled for The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines on May 2 at 10 a.m.
In Charlotte, though, she will take the stage of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center May 1 at 8 p.m. Then, she will share her own stories with a large audience. A description of the event provides a few more details about her book.
“Through it all, she’s relied on advice from her beloved grandparents who taught her about respect, humility, kindness and living a life of passion and meaning — timeless lessons that continue to guide her as she tackles motherhood, marriage, and (very) early wake-up calls,” the event description said.
Barbara Bush died in April 2018. George H.W. Bush died later that year in November.
Jenna Bush Hager’s book club
Hager, 38, is the daughter of former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush. She was a contributor for “Today,” for about 10 years when she was named co-host of the morning show’s fourth hour in April 2019 to join longtime host, Hoda Kotb.
Hager has become influential in the publishing world, thanks to her own best-sellers as well as her “Read with Jenna” book club on “Today.”
She has written children’s books (on her own and with her mother) to books about her life (“Sisters First” with her twin sister, Barbara Bush).
But her book club has translated into dramatic sales boosts, who often are emerging writers or authors of color, according to Entertainment Weekly.
North Carolina author Etaf Rum was one of them. After Hager named Rum’s debut novel, “A Woman is No Man,” as the May book pick — her third selection overall — the book had 10 times the sales from the previous week and became a best-seller, Entertainment Weekly reports.
