Horses are so cool. They're smart, too, and they can make awesome companions for families. There are lots of families who raise their kids around horses, and they're better for it. These gentle giants really do form the strongest bonds!

One sweet horse met her caretaker's new baby and pretty much immediately decided that he was actually hers. From that moment on, whenever she spotted the baby out and about, she was all over him. What a great protector:

Broken S Equine is quite the place to grow up! They have lots of land and a few horses, and they love them all like family. The horses love them right back! Whenever their caretaker and her family are out, they love coming over to say hello.

Mostly, though, they're interested in her baby. She brought him out to meet them when he was just a few days old, and they fell in love. The horse in this video has particularly taken a liking to him, and whenever she can, she follows him around.

Luckily, he loves it. He wants to see her all the time! As he gets older, I won't be surprised when he starts sneaking out and trying to have sleepovers in her stable. They love to be together. History shows that they're not all that opposed to horses in the house, too:

This is hilarious. Now make her a bedroom!

Horses Can Love Kids

Whether an individual horse will love kids depends on their experiences, but for the majority of horses, kids are fine! In a lot of cases, horses might even feel "protective" over kids: they recognize that they're not a threat, but that they do need protection.

If you really want your child to have a good relationship with your horse(s), they need to learn good behavior around them from a young age. That includes things like:

  • Gentle hands when petting.
  • No kicking.
  • Don't put hands near their mouth while they're eating.
  • No mane, tail, or ear pulling.

Luckily for this horse, her baby would never dream of doing anything like that. He knows he needs to respect her!
