Hysterics As Goldendoodle Has 1 ‘Adorable' Rule When It Comes to Eating
A goldendoodle with a very specific dining preference has gone viral on TikTok, racking up over 137,000 views.
But it isn't a luxury diet that makes Gus stand out. Instead, the white goldendoodle is eating from a surprisingly unconventional dish.
Text layered over the clip explains: "How am I supposed to tell the dog sitter that she has to put his food in a Chinese takeout container or he literally won't eat."
Owner Chandler Herring (@chandlerherring12) added in the caption: "Life of an anxious doodle I guess," and the post has already received more than 17,000 likes.
The dog's quirky habit may seem unusual, but a 2024 survey suggests that pet owners across the country are dealing with far stranger behavior.
The survey commissioned by Darwin’s Natural Pet Products and conducted by Talker Research between September 20–25 asked 2,000 dog owners to share the strangest things their pets had ever ingested. The results revealed that there are things much worse than a pair of chewed-up shoes.
One respondent said their dog had embraced the festive spirit a little too literally by eating a Christmas tree ornament. Another reported that their pet had snapped up a set of dentures.
One particularly painful admission came from the owner whose dog pulled a "winning lottery ticket out of my purse and chewed on it."
The financial losses didn't stop there. One dog chewed up cash, another got into a wallet and credit cards, and one pup required an emergency vet visit after swallowing the tail from a fabric squirrel toy.
Other items on the list included Barbie doll heads, a box of tampons, Vaseline, and even an owner's Social Security card.
TikTok Reacts
Viewers of Herring's video were quick to share their own dogs' mealtime quirks.
"My doodle will only eat if you are hovering over him. He can't be alone. Needs to know you're there," one user commented.
Another wrote: "I have to pretend I'm grating cheese on everything I give my dog."
A third added: "My little dog will only eat his food off a paper plate."
For some owners, the habits escalate as their dogs grow. "When my doodle was a puppy I'd hand feed her. Now, at 100 lbs., she thinks she should sit on my lap and be hand fed!" one person shared.
And one commenter-apparently a professional-embraced the challenge: "As a dog sitter, I would LOVE to do this and would order Chinese takeout just to eat with him." Another wrote: “How adorable.”
