Rescue Cairn Terrier Needs Her Cup of Coffee Every Morning Just Like Us

There's a very specific personality type that can't function without their morning coffee. No talking. No eye contact. No questions. And apparently… Sophie is one of us.

The caption sets it up perfectly, with her mom explaining, "Every day I make a coffee, and every day Sophie waits for her coffee," and I need you to picture this tiny rescue Cairn Terrier just standing there, quietly, patiently, but also visibly annoyed that the process is taking too long. Which, honestly, same.

In the clip shared on TikTok by @sjfr67, Sophie waits while her mom makes her "coffee," which is actually just water with a tiny drop of coffee and a bit of steamed milk. But the ritual? The ritual is very real. Her mom narrates the whole process like a barista under pressure, reassuring her that it's coming, adding a little foam, placing the cup down, and Sophie immediately locks in.

The comments were painfully relatable.

"Why are you talking to Sophie before she's had her coffee?" one person wrote, which feels like a valid boundary.

"My dog just asked me if we are poor," another added, which… fair.

"Sophie runs on those two drops of caffeine," which honestly might be enough for her.

"I'm imagining you explaining this to a dog sitter," which would be a full performance.

"Single drop latte, please!" which is now how I will be ordering everything.

"The little rituals between a pet parent and their pets are such sweet things," which is actually very true and very soft.

"Soph doesn't want to chitchat until after her cawfee," and "Love how she smacked her lips in anticipation," which really captures the energy here.

I keep thinking about how serious she is about this. Like if you skipped the routine one day, I don't think she would recover. My dog Kingston would immediately demand one, too, and my cats would just sit on the coffee machine and escalate the situation.

Can Dogs Have Coffee?

Even though Sophie isn't actually drinking real coffee here, you might be wondering if dogs can safely have it. The short answer is no. Caffeine is toxic to dogs, even in small amounts, and can cause symptoms like restlessness, rapid heart rate, and in more serious cases, more severe health issues.

That's why Sophie's version is more about the experience than the actual drink. A little water, a tiny bit of flavor, and some foam make it feel special without putting her at risk.

If you want to include your pup in a morning routine like this, it's best to stick to dog-safe options like plain water, pet-friendly treats, or specially made "dog lattes" that don't contain caffeine.

Because while the ritual is adorable… the real coffee definitely needs to stay yours.
