Mission Hospital McDowell's Emergency Services recognized nationally as Unit of Distinction
Mission Hospital McDowell's Emergency Services nursing unit has earned the 2025 HCA Healthcare Unit of Distinction Honorable Mention.
This annual program recognizes exemplary nursing units across HCA Healthcare's national network of more than 100,000 nurses. This year's recognition comes as HCA Healthcare celebrates "A Decade of Distinction," marking the 10th anniversary of the program, according to a news release from the hospital.
The Unit of Distinction Award honors top-performing units for excellence in advocacy and leadership, consistency in nursing practice and operations, and leveraging scale to improve patient care.
"Our Emergency Department team is the heartbeat of this hospital, and seeing their hard work recognized on a national stage in Nashville is an incredibly proud moment for all of us," said Amanda Prevette, chief nursing officer for Mission Hospital McDowell. "This award validates the tireless effort our nurses put into every shift to ensure our community receives high-quality, patient-centered care. Being named among the top ten percent of units across the entire HCA Healthcare network is a testament to the skill and compassion of this exceptional team."
Launched in 2015, the Unit of Distinction Awards are a cornerstone of HCA Healthcare's Nurse Forward strategy, grounded in four pillars: a care-first culture, clinical education, dynamic care teams, and leadership and advocacy. During the past decade, the program has recognized more than 500 honorable mention recipients across the organization.
The Emergency Services unit at Mission Hospital McDowell is one of the recognized areas of care that reflects the breadth and impact of nursing practice across the HCA Healthcare network. This year, units were recognized during a ceremony broadcast from the organization's headquarters in Nashville on Tuesday, April 14, according to the news release.
