World's Largest Movie Theater Screen Coming to Florida

When it comes to the title of the world's largest movie theater screen, a new king of the mountain is coming.

Currently, the largest screen in the world is located at the Traumpalast Multiplex in Leonberg, Germany, stretching 127 ft. by 69 ft. America's largest screen is at AMC Lincoln Square 13 in New York City, which is 101 ft. by 75.6 ft.

Monday, it was announced that Clearwater, Florida, a town 20 miles outside of Tampa, will be the new home of the biggest movie theater screen on Earth.

Cleveland Street Alliance has revealed that a $50 million entertainment multiplex from EVO Entertainment is being planned for downtown Clearwater. In addition to the theater, the brand-new 83,000-square-foot entertainment site will feature dining, an arcade, bowling, laser tag and more.

The theater, which will feature seven screens and be the first in the world where every auditorium features both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, according to Cleveland Street Alliance, will be headlined by the new largest screen in the world at over 130 ft. wide.

"We are thrilled to bring EVO Entertainment to Clearwater and be part of this once-in-a-lifetime transformation taking shape in downtown Clearwater," said Mitch Roberts, founder and CEO of Elevate Entertainment Group. "From a cinema worthy of the global stage to a world-class family entertainment center, EVO Entertainment Clearwater will set a new standard for out-of-home entertainment-serving as a social destination for millions of guests across the region."

"When you combine Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, you create something truly special: an experience audiences proactively seek out again and again," said Jed Harmsen, VP and GM of Cinema & Group Entertainment, Dolby Laboratories.

Cleveland Street Alliance says that the project will help to continue evolving its entire downtown district.

"Across downtown, a coordinated, building-by-building redevelopment is advancing-restoring historic properties, reconfiguring underutilized sites and establishing a connected retail, dining and entertainment environment.

"With the introduction of a destination of this scale, Cleveland Street is positioned to evolve into a unified, high-activity downtown district."

The entertainment destination is still in the development stage, and no construction timeline or opening date has been given.
