Netflix Quietly Prepares for Return of Beloved Western Series

Good news for fans of the Netflix series Ransom Canyon - the Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly-led western romance series will be back on your screens sooner than you think.

A second season was ordered last year, shortly after its successful debut on the streamer in April 2025. However, as reported by What's on Netflix, production officially wrapped on Season 2 in January, as confirmed by the cast and crew.

The new season will be slightly trimmed, according to the new outlet, with an 8-episode order compared to the 10 episodes that Season 1 comprised. There will also be fewer familiar faces this season, with actors Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner departing after Season 1.

However, there are plenty of new, worthy additions for the continuation of the story of the warring ranches, with Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson (Parks and Recreation, Frasier), and Steve Howey (Shameless, High Potential) among the most high-profile actors cast in the upcoming episodes. Additionally, Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom, The Continental) and Heidi Engerman (Chicago Fire, 9-1-1: Nashville) will also be joining the cast.

Robson and Engerman will play Oliver, "a big-city love interest for Quinn", and Sydney, "a larger-than-life character who is not to be underestimated," respectively. In another piece of good news, Casey W. Johnson, who plays Kit, will be upped to a main role, having been a recurring star during Season 1.

The plot is currently under wraps, but the episode titles, as reported by the Netflix-centric outlet, may give a hint about some upcoming storylines:

  1. Edge of My Seat Here, Quinn
  2. Forever. And Always.
  3. Go On Now, Get
  4. Hey There, Cowboy
  5. Let Me Let You Go
  6. No Place Like Home
  7. That Dog Won't Hunt
  8. That Leaves Two

As for a release date, that hasn't been confirmed so far, due to Netflix's ever-changing schedule, but insider reports reckon a late 2026-early 2027 release, with the latter most likely.
