On April 23, 2026, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice for 32 Degrees Heated Socks. The document detailed that about 207,806 units, which were mostly sold in Costco stores and from Costco.com, are included in the notice.

The details of the recall show the seriousness of the matter and what is causing the problem. "When worn during high-intensity activities that generate a combination of heat, excessive friction, moisture, and pressure, the socks can pose an injury hazard, including burns." The notice details that the recall was triggered by 14 heat-related incidents involving the socks, 13 of which resulted in first or second-degree burns. That means that nearly 100% of the reported incidents have resulted in injuries, which is remarkable.

Due to the seriousness of the danger, anyone who has purchased the socks is being instructed to stop using them immediately. They can then return the item to any Costco location for a full refund.
