Massive Alligator Spotted on Florida Golf Course and It's Unreal
If you've ever played golf in Florida, you already know that spotting an alligator on the course can be part of the experience. Rachel Hanson knew that going in, but nothing could have prepared her for the massive alligator she spotted on a Florida golf course during a recent game.
In the clip, the alligator makes its way across a cart path several feet ahead of the group, moving at its own unhurried pace. Using the palm trees nearby as a reference point, the sheer size of this animal is enough to make even the most seasoned Florida golfer do a serious double-take.
@rachhansonn I almost shat my pants because why is this a literal dinosaur gator #gator#floridagators#golftok#fyp

Everybody completely understood when Rachel shared in the caption, "I almost shat my pants because why is this a literal dinosaur gator?!" Seriously, you could tell this was going to be a big alligator from far away, and it just got bigger and bigger as it kept coming!

Viewers (us included) replayed the video several times, trying to gauge the alligator's size against the surrounding course features. Between the cart path, nearby trees, and general proportions of the video, many said it was one of the most shocking wildlife encounters they had seen on a golf course.
Golf Digest noted that while male alligators can grow up to 15 feet in length and weigh up to 1,000 pounds, this one looks like it's probably hitting both those measurements. As seasoned as they are, they admitted that they were surprised by its size, calling it one of the biggest gators they've ever seen on a golf course.

Great Florida Insurance also shares guidance for golfers who may encounter alligators on the course, reminding players to keep a safe distance of about 30 to 60 feet. They note that alligators under four feet in length are not typically considered a threat, but emphasize that all gators-no matter the size-should be left alone. Feeding alligators is both dangerous and illegal.
They also point out that alligators are most active between dusk and dawn, and advise golfers to stay aware of their surroundings and pay close attention to posted warning signs while on the course.
