Korn Drops First New Song in Years for 'Diablo 4' Expansion
The wait is almost over for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, the latest expansion Blizzard Entertainment's genre-defining ARPG series. One very popular and iconic metal band from the '90s is also celebrating its release with a new song and video for the game -the first new song from the classic group in over four years.
In a premiere video on YouTube from the official Diablo account, Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Korn debuted a new song and music video called "Reward the Scars." The video and music are being described as, "bringing Diablo's world to life through a visual lens defined by dread, power, and resistance," according to a press release.
Speaking about the new song, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis expressed his love for the Diablo series and how much of a perfect fit Diablo is with Korn's music style. "I've played Diablo for years, so getting to step into that world creatively felt natural," said Davis.
Davis continued, saying, "I've always connected to the darkness in the game and the idea of confronting what lives beneath the surface–that's something Korn has explored in our music from the beginning. ‘Reward the Scars' came out of our own writing sessions as a new Korn song, and it became clear pretty quickly that it was a natural fit for Diablo."
Fittingly, Lord of Hatred sees the debut of the Warlock class, a brand-new job for the series that defined ARPGs 30 years ago. Blizzard Entertainment has cited heavy metal music and culture as the biggest inspirations for the design of the class, both aesthetically and functionally in gameplay.
Before "Reward the Scars," the last new song Korn released was "Worst is On Its Way" back in 2022.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred releases on April 28 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
