Picky Giraffe's Birthday Cake Moment Doesn't Go as Planned
Birthdays are meant to be celebrated, and that usually means cake is part of the deal. There's even an old saying that no one should celebrate without one! But Miguu, a 17-year-old giraffe, had other plans. He surprised his keepers at the Phoenix Zoo when he decided to skip the traditional treat altogether.
Until I saw his recent video, I had no idea giraffes could be such picky eaters. I think I just assumed that if it were made out of vegetables, it would automatically make the cut. Unfortunately, the keepers at Phoenix Zoo found out the hard way that Miguu had other opinions-he wasn't interested in his special carrot cake at all.

Luckily, there were plenty of other animals at the zoo who were more than happy to step in and enjoy the celebration-and the special snacks. Miguu was offered a cupcake first, but after a quick sniff, he turned his nose up in a clear sign he wasn't interested. He did give the treat another shot a few moments later, but even after a small nibble, he ultimately decided it still wasn't for him.

The keepers then moved on to Sunshine, and it's safe to say she was even less interested than Miguu. Imara, the third giraffe in line, briefly had everyone fooled, and she definitely made it seem like she would actually give the cupcake a try. However, she pulled a last-second "psych" and left the treats untouched.
So, Who Ate the Birthday Cake?
Although the cupcakes were a strikeout with the giraffes, some of their animal neighbors were thrilled to step in. The warthogs, in particular, were more than eager to give them a try as members of the staff at Phoenix Zoo passed the tasty treats through the fence.
But it was the zebras who seemed to enjoy the treats the most. The final scene shows them gobbling up the cakes in record time. They clearly embraced a "more for us" mentality without a second thought!
