Confused by 'The Madison' Family Tree? We Break It All Down

Any Taylor Sheridan fan knows that each show is filled with complex family dynamics, and his newest hit The Madison is no exception. Filled with death, love, humor and more, the Clyburn family is one of the most entertaining on television. With all of that drama can come some confusion, namely around who’s who. Below we break down the Clyburn family tree and reveal how they are related to one another.

Stacy Clyburn

Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer) is the family’s matriarch. She’s the wife of Preston Clyburn (Kurt Russell), sister-in-law of Paul Clyburn (Matthew Fox), mother of Abigail Reese (Beau Garrett) and Paige McIntosh (Elle Chapman), mother-in-law of Russell Mcintosh (Patrick J. Adams), former mother-in-law of Dallas Reese (Tanc Sade) and grandmother of Bridgett Reese (Amiah Miller) and Macy Reese (Alaina Pollack). In Season 1, Stacy grieves her husband and spends time at his Montana cabin.

Preston Clyburn

Preston Clyburn is Stacy’s husband, Paul’s brother, Abigail and Paige’s dad, Russell’s father-in-law, Dallas’ former father-in-law and Bridgett and Macy’s grandfather. He does tragically die in Episode 1, but continues to appear in flashbacks throughout the season. He is also expected to return for Season 2 and most likely Season 3.

Paul Clyburn

Paul is Preston’s brother, Abigail and Paige’s uncle and Stacy’s brother-in-law. He also dies in Season 1, but unlike his brother, Paul won’t appear in Season 2. Even so, the actor is very thankful for his time on the show, telling Woman’s World, “It was a lot of fun. We had a lot of laughs. And we had a lot of laughs in scenes.”

“I worked with Kurt over a decade ago [on the 2015 film Bone Tomahawk], and that was a big draw for me,” the actor continued. “I just really like him as a person and as an actor, so it just felt like us as brothers was going to be really fun. And it was. It was like no time had passed, and we dropped right into that dynamic very organically. The whole thing felt great.”

Abigail Reese

Abigail Reese is Stacy and Preston’s daughter. She was married to Dallas, but they got divorced. Abigail has two kids—Bridgett and Macy—whom she spends a lot of time with in Season 1.

“I really love Abigail’s sarcasm. I find that’s something that I think is so attractive and so defiant and funny. And her way that she’s such a quiet, subtle character who takes a lot before she explodes,” Garett told Town & Country magazine earlier this year. “I also loved this mother-daughter dynamic that I found to be really invoking and complex and heartbreaking, and I really related to it. It was a story that I hadn’t really told before and was excited to dive into it and see what it creatively pushed me towards. Michelle Pfeiffer was always somebody that I had admired. She’s such a fantastic actress and I’ve watched her in so many different films over my lifetime and never would’ve thought she’d be a mother figure to me.”

Paige McIntosh

Paige is Stacy and Preston’s other daughter. She’s married to Russell and as of Season 1, they don’t have any children.

“For Paige, I think Montana represents confrontation. It forces her to reconsider what’s most important in her life. For a long time, her career has been the defining thing for her, and obviously her relationship with her husband is important, too—but it’s really only when they’re pulled out of that comfortable New York lifestyle that she begins to see things more clearly,” Chapman told The Au Review earlier this year.

Dallas Reese

Dallas Reese is Abigail’s ex-husband and Bridgett and Macy’s father. He only appears in one episode of Season 1, though, making him a bit of a mystery to viewers.

Russell Mcintosh

Russell Mcintosh is Paige’s husband, who travels to Montana with her following her father’s passing, even though he hates living off the land.

“Russell is definitely the kind of guy who believes nature, in its purest form, wants him dead at all costs,” Adams told The AU Review. “So Montana is…dangerous.”

Bridgett Reese

Bridgett Reese is Abigail and Dallas’ daughter and Stacy and Preston’s granddaughter. She does go to Montana in Season 1, which the actress thinks was good for her.

“For Bridgett, I think Montana represents slowing down. It’s about getting off her phone, touching grass and actually spending time with her family,” Miller told The AU Review. “She’s someone who has probably taken the people around her for granted a little bit, and being there gives her the chance to step back and recognize what really matters.”

Macy Reese

Macy is the youngest member of the Clyburn family. She’s Abigail and Dallas’ daughter and Stacy and Preston’s granddaughter and can be found spending a lot of time with her sister Bridgett in Season 1.
