2 Scary Carnival Accidents a Continent Apart Go Viral on the Same Day
Perhaps there's a reason why carnival rides get a bad rap. There's almost always a constant flow of bad news coming out of festivals all around the world, particularly with rides malfunctioning and causing havoc.
Take last week, for example.
ABC 7 in Los Angeles aired footage of a ride that malfunctioned at the popular "Feria de Abril" (or April Festival) in Seville, Spain. The terrifying video shows the moment a slingshot ride snapped mid-air, leaving four people injured.
The slingshot capsule reportedly landed on a steel support structure on the side. It's reported that four people suffered minor injuries, including two children.
Local authorities soon launched an investigation.

Less than 24 hours after ABC 7 aired that footage, reports out of Brazil were that 11 people, including three children, were injured when a carnival ride they were riding on suddenly collapsed.
A woman in southern Brazil captured the frightening footage, which quickly went viral.
According to reports, the "Tower" ride at a carnival in Guaiba, Brazil, collapsed, prompting local authorities to ban the ride.

The accidents came more than two months after another horrific accident unfolded at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Fair in Faridabad, India, where a so-called swinging "tsunami" ride collapsed and killed at least one person.
