Maine Coon Kitten Trying to Join His Mama's Bath Proves Some Cats Love Water
Most cats wouldn't go anywhere near a bathtub-but this guy clearly didn't get the memo. In a moment that's equal parts adorable and hilarious, a Maine Coon kitten named Kevin is making a very determined attempt to join bath time with his mom, showing just how different some cats can be when it comes to water.
It's not every day that a kitten tries to join bath time, but this viral cat video is proof that, when it comes to kittens, cat parents like @brianabanana should always expect the unexpected.
@_brianabanana_ I love my baths..and I know this breed loves water....we are in trouble #orangecat#fyp
original sound - Bri
Kevin couldn't be cuter! He's so determined to get closer to his mama, and judging by the sound of his loud purr, he couldn't be happier with himself and his jump onto the tub ledge. He absolutely deserves a dip in the water after expending all that effort!
"Listen to that motor," commented @rowan.l.mon. "He's obviously a boat meant for the water." That might be the case, but Bri wasn't ready to share her bathwater. Even so, no matter what she told him, Kevin just didn't get the memo.

Bri sounds a bit bewildered at her kitten's pushy behavior, but viewers could spy the hints from a mile away. @Vblintz15 said, "He's a Maine Coon, he's an orange boy, and you named him Kevin. The signs are all there."
Cats That Like Water
Mainstream media has long perpetuated the idea that cats hate water, but cats that like water may not be as rare as many think. True, some felines panic when their fur becomes wet and heavy, which makes it difficult to swim and run nimbly, but others, like Maine Coons, are actually built to thrive in both wet and dry environments.

Because Maine Coon cats originated in cold, snowy environments, they have water-resistent fur and webbed toes, which helps them walk on wet and snowy surfaces. It's quite literally in their genes to enjoy-or at least tolerate-water.
Of course, not every kitty will be as curious or excited about water as Kevin was. He's already full of stubbornness and enthusiasm at his young age, though no one knows how he'll truly feel the first time he takes a dunk.
