This Cockatoo's Sweet Reaction to Piano Music Is Melting Hearts
Birds are some of the smartest species on the planet, and as it turns out, they're also big music buffs. While some of the more theatric Parrots love headbanging to a favorite tune, others have a quieter appreciation for a good song. Sweet Pea, the Cockatoo, is among the latter group, and when the piano tuner stopped by and broke into a beautiful melody, the sweet girl had the most adorable reaction.

The throwback clip shows a curious Sweet Pea listening to the serene piano music, taking it all in, then raising her feathers like nobody's watching! She's already such a gentle soul; this is the perfect video that encapsulates that. Even with her collar, she's grateful for the moment-something we should all do more of!

The precious rescue Cockatoo isn't always this calm. Sometimes she gets a little riled up and barks at the service repairman, dances during a reunion with Mom, or nurses Mom back to health when she's sick.
As cute as Sweet Pea is, and as much as she loves music, she's not all that interested in welcoming new bird friends. In her kingdom, she rules the roost, so competition with another is not happening on her watch!

Why Cockatoos React to Music
As one of the most intelligent and social species, Cockatoos react to music because they have a unique link between the auditory and motor sections of the brain. They can feel rhythm and synchronize cute little dance moves, which include more than 30 adorable and distinct moves (head-bobbing, side-stepping, etc.).
Creative expression is a form of social bonding, and these birds love to be social! These movements sometimes mimic rituals (like courtship and making flock friends) they'd perform in the wild, so it's a cool and adorable sight to see.
Just like us, Cockatoos have a vocal-learning skill that helps them connect complex movements to sounds while having a good time. They're one of the world's animals who can differentiate various types of music and develop a taste for their own preferences. Like the Cockatoo who fangirls watching Hamilton, Sweet Pea is a fan of classical music, and that's pretty cool.
