Dog meetups have become a more popular way for pups and their parents to make new friends and celebrate life with a dog. Many of these community events aim to bring pups from the same breed together, just like the Dachshund meetup in the park that dog mom @audreyjkipp attended with her furry friends. Moose and Rocky had a wonderful time, but Audrey noticed something amiss midway through the adorable event.

A Golden Retriever accidentally crashed the party! He certainly looked out of place among the short sausage dogs in the park, and the harsh way the Dachshund treated the intruder left him feeling like the odd one out, too. Clearly, he regretted his decision right away!

Rough afternoon for this guy #dachshundlife

I've never seen such an unhappy Golden Retriever! The poor pup went from curious to regretful in a matter of seconds, and no one could blame him; those fierce sausage dogs turned on him as soon as they noticed he was different.

Commenter @jgodsi thought of a line from Mean Girls, "She doesn't even go here!" It's hard to blend in when the entire crowd looks the same, but there was no reason for the stubborn sausage dogs to be so rude to their new friend.

Little did he know, he wasn't the only imposter among the Dachshunds! Did you spot the Chihuahua dog blending in? Clearly, the little dog's size allowed them to fit in much more easily than the much larger Golden could, no matter how much the friendly dog tried.

"We took our very yappy Dachshund to a 'Weinerpawlooza' last summer, and it was crazy how she didn't bark one time at any of the other wieners but barks at literally every other dog 24/7," dog mom @crybabyxx19. "They know their kind, I guess."

Do Dogs Recognize Their Own Breed?

Humans organize dogs into breeds based on physical features, but do dogs recognize or prefer their own breed? As far as researchers can tell-nope!

Dogs can tell a lot about one another from scent alone, and while some dogs may be drawn to scents that are familiar, it has nothing to do with being the same breed. Dogs don't appear to divide themselves up by breed, though they may recognize they are differences between them.

The sassy Dachshunds in this video may have felt intimidated by the Golden's larger size or his unfamiliar presence, but they didn't mean to be so rude. Hopefully they'll welcome him with open paws at the next Dachshund meetup!
