‘Dutton Ranch’ Director on Taylor Sheridan: He’s ‘Like a Big Brother’ (Excl)

Peel back the curtain on most Yellowstone sets, and you’ll likely find Christina Alexandra Voros there. The 48-year-old has worn many hats throughout the franchise—producer, cinematographer and now director of Dutton Ranch. And according to her, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

In an exclusive chat with Woman’s World about the new spinoff, Voros opened up about her eight-year journey with the Yellowstone universe and shared what it’s really like working with creator Taylor Sheridan. Here’s what she revealed.

Voros first joined the Yellowstone universe back in 2018. She then went on to work on 1883, Dutton Ranch and The Madison, all of which became blockbuster hits.

“I have been part of the Yellowstone world since the first season,” Voros tells Woman’s World. “I was a B camera operator and became a DP [Director of Photography], a director and cinematographer and now I primarily shoot my own episodes.”

Later, in a separate conversation on the Dutton Ranch red carpet, Voros opened up even more about her time in the Yellowstone universe, telling us, “Ireally grew up in this world as an artist and learned every single day that I have been on set.”

“I’ve been asked for impossible things that I had no idea how to do and now I can, so I feel very very lucky,” Voros concludes.

While working in the Yellowstone universe, Voros had the chance to learn from one of the best in the business: Sheridan, the man who created the entire franchise.

“Taylor’s like a big brother to me,” Voros said. “He’s been a real advocate for me as an artist, and I have had a front-row seat and sort of a master class of visual storytelling from him as a writer and as a producer.”

As for her favorite Sheridan show, Voros said the Yellowstone prequel 1883 takes the cake.

“1883 was, for me, such a special experience, and it was such a challenging show to make, and it was such a beautiful story to me. Of all the shows that I’ve had the opportunity to work with Taylor on, I think 1883 is the one that keeps coming back to me,” she explains. “I remember having done that one and thinking, ‘Okay, if I went back to bartending now, I have made something that matters to me and that matters to the world.’ It holds a special place in my heart.”

Most recently, Voros directed The Madison and Dutton Ranch. When speaking of the spinoff shows, she said, “They’ve been a wonderful balance in my life. The more deeply nuanced emotional grappling of The Madison and the more aggressive, muscular drama of Dutton Ranch.”

As for a crossover, Voros said there isn’t one yet, but she does have ideas for one.

“I would love to see Stacy Clyburn [Michelle Pfeiffer] and Beth Dutton [Kelly Reilly] get along, and I would love to see them having a whiskey together at the same bar,” Voros says. “But those two stories exist in their own worlds that are different sides of a similar point.”
