White Point partners with Liles family to recapitalize Gibson Mill in Concord
CONCORD - A Charlotte-based real estate firm has partnered with the longtime owners of Gibson Mill to recapitalize and expand one of Cabarrus County's most prominent adaptive reuse developments.
White Point announced Thursday it is joining with the Liles family - led by George "Jock" Liles and his sons - in a deal aimed at building on the success of the historic mill property while exploring future improvements.
Gibson Mill, a 653,000-square-foot complex on 33 acres, dates to 1899 and has been transformed over the past two decades into a mixed-use destination featuring a food hall, antique mall, breweries, restaurants, office space and a classic car showroom.
The Liles family, part of the original group that acquired the former Cannon Mills property in 2004, will remain in ownership as part of the new partnership.
White Point brings experience in redeveloping historic industrial properties across the Southeast, with projects including Optimist Hall and Dilworth Artisan Station in Charlotte.
Company leaders said the partnership is designed to preserve the character of Gibson Mill while positioning it for future growth.
"Gibson Mill is a special place with a strong foundation and a vibrant community," said Erik Johnson, a founding partner of White Point. "We're thrilled to partner with the Liles family to thoughtfully guide Gibson Mill's next chapter."
Liles said the decision reflects a desire to continue evolving the property while maintaining its community focus.
"Twenty-plus years later, Gibson Mill has become exactly that," he said. "Partnering with White Point allows us to keep building on that work with a team that shares our values."
Officials said more details about future plans for the site will be announced in the coming months.
