WWE Reportedly Interested in Bringing Back Baron Corbin
WWE is reportedly keen on reuniting with a former United States Champion and Money in the Bank winner.
After WrestleMania 42 weekend, WWE conducted a giant wave of roster cuts, including The New Day, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Apollo Crews, Kairi Sane and the entire Wyatt Sicks stable.
Now, it appears WWE is ready to bring back another notable name to its roster.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has "heavily talked about" a reunion with Baron Corbin (real name Thomas Pestock).
"Probably back in WWE," Meltzer said. "I've not heard it's a done deal, but I know it's been talked about, yes."
It's only speculation on his end, but Meltzer thinks that Corbin could be part of the mystery angle with Danhausen, who teased a big plan on SmackDown. Meltzer also suggested that a deal between Corbin and WWE may already be completed.
"On the SmackDown show, when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that's who it is. That's just my speculation, but I just know that he's been talked with about being brought in," Meltzer added. "It might even be done, but I haven't had it officially confirmed to me it's done. But I have 100% confirmed that it's been heavily talked about."
Before he turned to wrestling, Corbin was a star guard for the Northwest Missouri State football team. He tried out for the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals, but never played an NFL game.
He signed with the WWE in 2012, beginning with the NXT developmental brand. After four years there, he made his main roster debut at WrestleMania 32, winning the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Baron Corbin Won Two Championships in WWE
Corbin won his first title in WWE when he defeated A.J. Styles and Tye Dillinger in a triple threat match for the United States Championship at Hell in a Cell 2017, He would later drop the title to Dolph Ziggler at Clash of Champions.
He would win his last title with WWE on the Feb. 13 episode of NXT. Corbin teamed up with Bron Breakker to win the NXT Tag Team Championships, defeating Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo.
However, they would lose the titles two months later to Nathan Frazer and Axiom on the Apr. 9 episode of NXT.
